Palm Pre Launches June 6 for $200

Sprint and Palm have finally released the news that the much-anticipated Palm Pre will be available next month, June 6.

Along with the release date, we learned the device is competitively priced at $199.99. Of course, this is after a $100 mail-in-rebate and two-year contract on Sprint's Everything Data Plan or Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan. Its also been said the device will be available online and in some retail stores like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and RadioShack. Accessories for the device will also be available on June 6.

One thing to keep in mind is that Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is only two days after the Palm Pre's release. Its been rumored that we may hear an announcement of a new iPhone at WWDC, so you may want to hold out until then.

In addition, Sprint CEO, Dan Hesse predicts that there will be shortages of the device. "We don't intend to advertise it heavily early on because we think we are going to have shortages for awhile. We won't be able to keep up with demand for the device in the early period of time," Hesse says.

What do you think? Palm Pre or Apple iPhone?
