Shopping Basics: Style Made Simple

Let's face it: shopping can be a nightmare. You go to the mall and there's a million stores, a million people, and a food court that screams "eat me" just so you can buy jeans a size too big after munching down on fast food. To top it off, you get home and unload all your new new things only to find you didn't really put a cohesive outfit together at all. Mismatched articles of clothing -- all that you like separately -- but none that go together well! Not everyone has this problem, but for those of you who do, I'm here to tell you that thankfully, it doesn't need to be so complicated.

If you just know what to look for, you'll always leave with a great outfit in hand. Here's a example of an outfit everyone should have, and how easy it is to find it. This look is aimed at the basics.

Finding a great pair of jeans

To start off your day of shopping you should look for a great pair of blue jeans. The ones pictured are a classic boot cut found at PacSun. However, most stores carry blue jeans, so their really not hard to find. You should always keep in mind the fit of your jeans. You want them to be snug and comfortable, but not too tight. You want to be comfortable in your new clothes!

Must-Have: A Basic White Tank Top

After finding your new jeans, you should look for a white tank top to match with your new jeans. Again, nothing overly tight. If it's 5 inches wide on the hanger, you should steer clear. Try finding a tank top that shows off your shoulders and curves, but is also a little loose and comfortable. After all, it's getting hot outside and no one wants a tank top sticking to their skin. The tank top I found is from Forever 21, for $4.80. It has a racer back and a round neckline, which is always flattering.

The Right Sandals

After finding the basis of your outfit, try to find some cute sandals. Since the outfit is so simple, it's fun to find a pair with a hot splash of color. These pink leather sandals are from Urban Outfitters and go for $24.99.

Accessories: Sunglasses & Necklace

I found some cute sunglasses from American Eagle for $19.50 that matched my hot pink sandals. As a finishing touch to your new outfit, try to find a cute accessory that can add some detail and a little flair. I added this simple metal rose and rhinestone necklace from Forever 21. It costs only $4.80, so this little addition to the outfit wasn't even expensive!

This entire outfit came from stores that can be found in malls near or in Orlando! One-stop shopping. For any of you who really don't want to go to the mall, shopping online can be your new best friend. Remember the simple style formula - and that every great wardrobe starts with some basics.
